Mt. Beacon

Hike Date: August 1, 2010

Hike Difficulty: Strenuous

Hike Rating (Scenic views and/or interesting terrain/vegetation): A-

Location: Mount Beacon Park, Beacon, NY

This was my first solo hike! I took the Metro North Hudson Line to Beacon, and walked to the Gateway to the Incline Railway. A steep climb brought me to the ruins of the Incline Railway and the Casino. After stopping where for a while, I proceeded to follow the red-blazed Casino trail towards South Beacon, but then decided to return early and leave South Beacon for another day. Retraced route on the way back.
