Mt. Taurus

Hike Date: July 4, 2010

Hike Difficulty: Strenuous on the way up. The return portion down the back slope was quite easy and also well-shaded by trees.

Hike Rating (Scenic views and/or interesting terrain/vegetation): B+

Hike Description: A friend and I decided to do a hike during the Fourth of July weekend.  On what turned out to be an extremely hot day, we took the Metro North Hudson Line to Cold Spring, and walked to the trailhead located at the shoulder of Route 9D. We followed Washburn Trail in the first part of the hike, then switched to the Notch Trail, followed by a brief stretch on the Brook Trail on the way down, and the final stretch was on the Cornish Trail. This was more or less the Mt. Taurus hike described here.
