Two weeks after my first walk on the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail, I found myself back on it on what was a lovely sunny Sunday.

I planned out this hike using the preserve maps linked above and Google maps, and fixed upon Philipse Manor as the Metro North station at which I would alight. Surprisingly,  I do not recall seeing any online hike description referencing this station, even though it is very conveniently situated.

I caught the 12:20 p.m. from GCT and got to Philipse Manor around 1:20 or so. From the station, I walked around a mile and got onto the OCA near Gory Brook Road.

Google Maps suggested route to OCA from the station. I deviated from this a little at the outset, by taking the stairs up from the station, which lead onto Millard Ave. From Millard, I turned right onto Bellwood and then followed  the suggested route. Note that the OCA crosses Gory Brook Road transversely near its intersection with Ridge St. However, one should not turn onto Ridge Street, and instead look to the left side of Gory Brook Road for the OCA sign (the map instructions get this part slightly wrong).

I headed northward on the OCA for another mile or so. The initial part runs along the periphery of  a park, and then that of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Past the cemetery, the OCA runs adjacent to Broadway, albeit at a higher elevation. Arriving at the bridge where the OCA crosses Rt 117,  I took a detour into adjacent Rockefeller Preserve trails including portions of the Big Tree and the 13 Bridges  Trails. After around an hour, I headed on the OCA connector to get back on the OCA, which I then followed into the Rockwood Hall section of the preserve. Here,  I detoured on a preserve trail again, though only for a few minutes, and found a spot with a lovely river view. I retraced my steps on the OCA and then back to the station, well in time to catch the 5:37 back.  Thus ended this little excursion of around 4 hours and 8-9 miles of  easy walking.
