Hike Date: September 5, 2010
Hike Difficulty: Easy
Hike Description: This was a stroll-and-picnic-like but rather long day excursion that I undertook with my parents who were visiting me at the time. We took the Metro North Hudson Line to Cold Spring. From the station, we walked to Main Street area and then walked along Fair Street till the intersection with Route 9D. Keeping left, walked along the shoulder of Route 9D for a minute or two...Little Stony Point's entrance is seen on the left side. Inside, at the fork, we took the detour to the left, which leads to the cliffs where to be had are awesome views of Storm King Mountain and Breakneck Ridge. Afterwards, we retraced steps to Cold Spring station and took the train on to Beacon. We followed the Klara Sauer Trail to Dennings Point, and then followed the Dennings Point trail to the rocky beach area with views. Later, we retraced our route back to the Beacon station.
